Yes, Quickbooks can be a headache....
The first thing I usually do is take a look at the books of your small business because numbers can say a lot. Are you categorizing correctly? Is all the information there? Have you reconciled within the last month? Do you ever look or understand your financial statements?
Generally, I don't want to be your full-time bookkeeper but I do want to empower you to do it yourself or you at least have enough knowledge to supervise a bookkeeper.
As as Advanced Certified Quickbooks ProAdvisor, I offer a few different services related to Quickbooks:

JUST FIX IT!
Sometimes you get seriously behind with your books even though you started out with full intentions of doing it all yourself. Or perhaps you gave your Quickbooks file to your CPA during tax time and they returned it saying you need to seriously clean it up before they can file your taxes.
I'll take a look at what you are doing, figure out what is not working right and fix any mistakes. If there are months of data entry, I can take of that too.
SHOW ME HOW TO FIX IT!
You know you are behind or are entering things incorrectly but need someone to show you what is wrong and, most importantly, how to fix it. Once given direction, you are confident you can do it yourself.
After I do an assessment of your file, I'll train you how to correctly and efficiently enter the info into Quickbooks. I can also create screen shot instruction sheets for my clients so once I am out of the picture, they have something to refer to. This is particularly helpful if they only occasionally do a task (i.e. monthly reconciling).
My philosophy is that you should understand your financial statements and identify discrepancies. This is a process so expect it to take some time to become comfortable with them.
SET UP MY NEW QUICKBOOKS FILE
There are a number of things that need to be done correctly when you first install Quickbooks, such as setting up your chart of accounts, entering your items list and selecting certain preferences, to name a few. After gathering important information about your company, I make sure the setup is done correctly.
However, through my experience, if you are hiring me to set up your file, you will most CERTAINLY need my help to teach you how to use it. So once the setup is done, expect to spend a number of training hours with me.
TRAIN ME HOW TO USE QUICKBOOKS MYSELF
If you are new to Quickbooks or have just set up a brand new file and want to do the bookkeeping yourself going forward, I can teach you what you need to do and when you need to do it. I can even leave you with screen shot instructions on how to do most of these tasks when I am no longer around.
HOW LONG WILL THIS TAKE?
There are a few pieces of information that I simply do not know before I begin my work with you:
- How quickly you learn.....Some people are more tech savvy then others. What might take one hour for someone might take three hours for another. I'll try to teach you Quickbooks as quickly as possible but at the beginning, I have no idea how long this will be until we've worked together.
- How deep your file is....If you are hiring me to clean up your file I can't say how long it will take to correct it until I have done a thorough File Review.
WHAT ARE YOUR FEES?
I tailor my fees around each client's specific situation. My fees depend upon what you need, what you would like, how much time I think the project may take and other details. When you call me, expect to spend about 20-30 minutes answering lots of questions about your Quickbooks situation, your business and your struggles.
I require a signed contract and a deposit and to get started, the amount of which would depend upon the package.
